How do I help my child practice after a lesson?
Ask the coach for a simple drill to repeat, and set aside a regular moment for it at home. If the coach shares video, watching it together can help. Praise effort, notice small improvements and leave technical corrections to the coach. Your role is encouragement: providing a safe space to swing, showing interest and keeping the mood light, even when things feel hard.
What equipment does a beginner need?
Very little to begin with. A few junior clubs sized to your child's height, including a putter, plus some balls and tees are enough. Add comfortable athletic shoes, a hat and water. Avoid cut-down adult clubs, which are usually too heavy and stiff for small players. It is worth asking a coach for advice before buying anything.
