Where does Jeffrey teach?
Jeffrey Sorkness teaches at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park, CA. Jeffrey also teaches at The Phoenician Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ.
What equipment does a beginner need?
Very little to begin with. A few junior clubs sized to your child's height, including a putter, plus some balls and tees are enough. Add comfortable athletic shoes, a hat and water. Avoid cut-down adult clubs, which are usually too heavy and stiff for small players. It is worth asking a coach for advice before buying anything.
What are good ways to measure a player's progress?
Simple records work well: the same skill challenges repeated every so often, short notes after each lesson and a written list of current goals. As players start competing, basic stats such as putts and fairways hit add detail. Ask the coach how they share progress with you. Clear, regular updates help parents see what is improving and what still needs work.
