About
Meet Andrew Dodson, Junior Golf Coach in Bloomfield Hills, MI
In 2011 Andrew Dodson became a Class A PGA member. He graduated from the Golf Management Program at Ferris State University. He has given thousands of lessons.
Andrew starts by helping a student understand the cause and effect of their swing. He concentrates on controlling low point, club path and face angle, and uses video analysis to explain swing faults and how to correct them. He aims for a student to leave each lesson knowing what to work on and why. Reviewers value that he works on one or two changes at a time and diagnoses swing problems quickly.
Andrew teaches at Wabeek Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, MI and at Coyote Golf Club in New Hudson. He also teaches at The Golf Spot in Livonia and at Kubica Golf in Novi.

What part do lessons play in preparing for college golf?
Lessons can play a steady, practical part. They give a player regular time to develop reliable skills, get ready for tournaments and learn from each round. Families can also read up on how college recruiting works, so they know which questions to ask. Roster decisions rest with college coaches, but good guidance makes it easier to set goals that match a player's ability and interests.
How do you choose the right coach for your child?
Start with fit. Children learn more from someone they like and trust, so notice if the coach listens, stays patient and speaks to your child directly rather than only to you. Ask how lessons are planned and how progress is shared with parents. A calm, organized approach and a friendly manner count for a great deal with young players.
